Our Staff

Radiation oncology is different from some medical specialties in that it involves a team of specialists who work very closely together. In addition to Advanced ROS radiation oncologists, Dr. Gerstley and Dr. Torrey, who direct patient treatment and care, we want to introduce you to some other key members of the Therapy Team. All of these people will play an important role in your treatment, and all have exceptional backgrounds in their area of specialization.

Christine Garda, R.N., OCN
Director of Nursing

Chris’ work in patient care began when she was only 15. A job as a nurse’s aide in a local nursing home inspired her to pursue a career in nursing. By the time she was out of high school she had finished her Licensed Practical Nurse training. As an LPN, Chris found herself drawn to the challenges of cancer care. After becoming a Registered Nurse and then a Certified Oncology Nurse, she focused on administering cancer treatments and patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including Memorial Sloan Kettering and eventually Advanced ROS. Chris has taken her career to another level through her active involvement with the Oncology Nursing Society. An experienced presenter at ONS annual conferences, she now inspires and educates others by sharing her knowledge and dedication to caring for people with cancer.
